Wichita Mid-Continent Airport seeks services of ad/marketing firm

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is seeking bids from a Wichita-based advertising, creative and marketing firm to develop marketing programs to promote the airport, airlines and air services.

The current contract with Armstrong Shank expires in February. The firm is preparing to submit a proposal for the upcoming award, said Armstrong Shank director of marketing and public relations Mark Chamberlin.

“We’re excited to go in again … and continue the momentum we think we’ve gained for the airport,” Chamberlin said.

Proposals  are due by 1 p.m. Friday. A request for proposal was advertised in late October. Candidates will make a formal presentation in mid-January. The agency selected will win a five-year contract with renewal options for two additional one-year contracts.

The promotions increase awareness of the travel opportunities and affordability of traveling from Wichita, the airport said. Support of the airlines serving Wichita is vital when competing with other communities for air service, it said.

“Continuity of the existing programs and enhancements to those programs is essential,” the request for proposal said.  Development of an entirely new campaign is not planned unless there’s a significant change in the air service or the airport,” it said.

A firm will be selected the week of Jan. 17. Approval of the Wichita Airport Authority, which is the Wichita City Council, is scheduled for Feb. 1.
